Website Review: DEL TACO
Will it make me "run for the border"? I know that's Taco Bell's thing, just work with me here.
As a fast food connoisseur, I'm a big fan of Del Taco.
The food is relatively cheap, and I know the quality of the food is far better than a lot of other chains. There are a lot worse places you can go to.
But I believe a brand's website is its brand messaging hub, and it should be clear what I should expect from them as a customer.
I expect:
- To understand what you do
- How my life can be better because of your brand
- How do I get it?
A simple, clear message within the first few seconds with UX principles to support it should make your website an easy way to do business with customers. Also, most importantly, your website is a massive opportunity to increase affinity with your customers.
Well, I took it upon myself to review the Del Taco website. I had only spent a few minutes looking at it before I hit record, so you're getting my real reaction for the most part.
Overall, I think Del Taco has some opportunities to increase brand affinity and clarify its message. The website is trying to serve many masters and feels like a Jackson Pollock painting and tries to adhere to the idea of "bigger is better". But if bigger gets in the way of my brain working harder, I just might run to the border (get it?) or to the local taqueria instead.
